The TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension
In Space) is a bioship that was grown from
a species of coral and is a product of the
advanced technology of the Time Lords.
Capable of transporting its occupants to
any point in time and any place in the
universe, the TARDIS is the Doctor's
primary means of transport. Together,
they make the best team in the universe.

Since the program's genesis, the Doctor
has been traveling through space and time
with his companions. Although rarely called
a "companion" on screen, these friends,
who usually (but not always) travel with
him in the TARDIS, share adventures
with the Doctor and keep him in check.

The Time Lords were the oligarchic rulers of
the planet Gallifrey (from which the Doctor
was a renegade). Considered one of the
oldest and most technologically powerful
races in the universe, they developed a
culture of custodianship and a policy of
strict non-interference and neutrality.
However, the Rogues Gallery of
Time Lords proves that the Doctor's
people had a history of villainy as
well as virtue.

Originally called Koschei and known by many other aliases, The Master is a renegade Time Lord and the Doctor's arch-nemesis. A would-be conqueror, the Master wants to control the universe, and has an ever-present secondary objective of eliminating the Doctor.

Daleks were the mutated descendants of the
Kaleds of the planet Skaro. Genetically modified
and integrated within a tank-like robotic mechanical
shell, they fought the Time Lords in the Last Great
Time War. Hated and feared throughout time and
space and bent on total conquest and the purging
of all non-Dalek life, the Daleks are one of the
Doctor's most persistent and diabolical enemies.

Some corners of the universe have bred the
most terrible things. Without monsters to fight,
where would the Doctor be? They have threatened
the Earth, the universe, and even time itself
allowing no rest for
the Doctor, his
companions, or
Mary Whitehouse.

Operating under the auspices of the UN, UNIT's
(UNified Intelligence Taskforce, or United Nations
Intelligence Taskforce) purpose is to investigate
and combat paranormal and extraterrestrial threats
to the Earth. Throughout the series, UNIT has been
an ally of, and occasionally at odds with, the Doctor.
For a time during his exile the Doctor
worked for UNIT, alongside old friend
Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, helping
them combat alien threats from
Autons to Zygons.

Although these films are distinct and
set apart from the main series, they do
offer some interesting perspectives on
the cast and characters of Doctor Who.
